My grandmother pushing her walker to lunch moves faster than Wells. I was just watching ESPN and they said he was a complete bust this weekend. His lack of speed combined with his love of getting injured should make him a typical OSU NFL player. Maybe 5 years from now Denver will draft him in the 3rd round. :D
Oh yeah, teams are worried about his attitude too, no surprise considering the lack of leadership in Columbus.

He probably pulled a Manningham; showed up thinking he could just pull it off, didn't work on doing a more 'track' style run. We've all seen him run by the secondary several times, he'll do better at OSU's pro day.
Attitude, however, you can't teach anymore.

damn two tight ends ran faster than him, he does have good game speed though.

And in a suprise the scouts are awed by and raving about Pat White, they expected him to be fast but so far looks to have the best arm in the bunch.

Damn - WR Mike Wallace ran a 4.33. He's like 80 years old!

I think the 40 times they have are retarded. They should be in full uniform and it shouldn't be a "track" style run. Give them a ball and run from the goal line to 40.

That is slow, why couldn't Michigan defense stop him?

If you had a QB like Sheridan you would understand. I had hoped Wells would quit during the Michigan game but he saved that poor attitude for the bowl game.

I thought the 6 broad jump attempts, that were off the chart for his size, hurt his results in the other events.
My guess he will run at Pro day and put up a much better number in the 40.
40 is worthless, they should run a 15 yard dash that is more realistic for football. Like they said the players will never run another 40 yard dash the rest of their career in any practice.
He is still first round, he's a bruiser not a sprinter, biggest indicator is results in big games, against quality talent, he showed up in every big game he played in.
He is still worth a top 10 pick, remember he's only a junior and has some more time to mature, NFL looks at that.

The only good game he had last season against a good D was the Texas game. And even in this game all that is remembered his him quitting in the fourth qrt. Look at the Penn State game, what a joke.
I will stake my 12 rep points (higher than anyone else) that Wells gains less than 1000 for his entire NFl career.

There is a lot of infatuation here with our Ohio State Buckeyes, what gives...............
Anyway, here is what one draft analyst had to say about Wells:
Rob Rang, draft analyst for nfldraftscout.com, said Wells' 40 time was comparable to his main competitor to be the first back picked, Georgia's Knowshon Moreno. Moreno, who's about 5-10, 215, was clocked at an unofficial time of 4.55 and 4.63.
"Moreno ran even slower at a lighter weight," said Rang. "That was one of the questions about both of these players is that they lack that top-end speed. But you can see on film that they're both dynamic players. If you go down the NFL record books, not every top back had top-end speed."
And another:
"What the 40 tells me with running backs is go check the tape again," said NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock. "With Beanie Wells, there's explosion. He had one of the best, if not the best, broad jumps. He had a good vertical jump. He has lower body explosion, but he isn't going to run away from a corner that runs a 4.3. What he will do is run over that corner, hopefully, and stay healthy because that's his biggest issue."
Bascially, he didn't run any slower than other RB's and he has some more impressive stats in other areas. He'll be fine.

Beanie is a football player - period. He is a power runner that has some speed. He never was a burner. He did however out run the defense of Michigan's for 3 years. My guess is that you better check the 40 times of your defense. If his 40 times is bad then the 40 times of the defensive players he has faced are really bad. Some guys are faster on the field with gear on - Beanie is one of them. Last I checked Bradon Jacobs was not very fast either - he just runs you over. Like Beanie.

NUT...you absolutely railed Mike Hart's 40 time last year. Now you're making excuses. Typical!

First off, not one person on earth is FASTER with gear on. It might not effect their speed as much but they aren't faster. I won't criticize Well's speed because he has shown what he can do.
Jacobs is like 40 pounds heavier than Beanie, so he should be slower.

Hart was a shrimp compared to Beanie. Beanie is a football player who actually will play in the NFL. The only thing fast on Hart is his mouth.

Hart is already palying in the NFL. The scouting take on Beanie is he will do well if picked by a ball control team. I hope the Bungals pick him. LOL!

Guys I would take Wells for sure in the Draft. He needs to work on his duribilty, but for his size he has some of the quickest feet in the hole I have seen.
There were many backs "faster" than Barry Sanders in the 40 also, but nobody had quicker feet than him.

The problem is...you lost all credibility when you started comparing Beanie with Brandon Jacobs. Just...wow!?! How can we take anything you say seriously after that???

I don't think beanie will be that effective at the next level and i'm not just saying that because he's a suckeye. He was a good north south runner at the college level and he did well when there was a gaping hole and he was able to get to the second level quickly, then it was a foot race that he won most of the time. Although some would disagree, I never saw him as much of a tackle breaker and it seemed one defender could bring him down relatively easy at times. Now if that was the case at the NCAA level. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I'm wondering does Nut get all the credit, or should he share it with Tressy? After all, Tressy's got to get up before Nut goes down...
