Lost in OT 70-60. Very disappointing game by Michigan and it will be tough to make the tourney now. It was interesting that Manny didn't play in the OT.

Yeah, I bet the shit is gonna hit the fan with this whole 'benching Manny with a NCAA bid on the line' thing.

for those complaining (on mgoblog) about the officiating... yes, it was pretty bad at times, but the fact remains that michigan had EVERY chance to win that game and they blew it.
Turnovers,... manny's carry was a killer... bad passes into traffic. the cj lee pass to manny that was a turnover cost us the game essentially.
they had every chance to run away with this game.
their offense in the last 2 minutes of the game, the final play and in OT was to have 4 guys swing the ball 5 feet behind the 3 pt line.
this is the problem with beilien's offense. you cant have a bunch of shooters without someone who can make a cut to the basket or slash with the ball and FINISH.
manny missed a lot of layups. the whole team did. iowa should not be more athletic than us.. yet they were all over us defensively. we couldnt keep up with them on D.
pick and rolls, wide open 3s. michigan basically was outplayed, outhustled and outworked. they wanted it, even with half their team injured. Guys stepped up.
Sims stepped up near the end with a great baseline shot and some FTs.. but manny had his chances and didnt step up.
i have a feeling that manny's carry and that BULLSHIT final possession of regulation is what got him benched. that said, im not sure i would have kept him out the whole time..
truth of the matter is that michigan wins that game at home.. and loses on the road. thats what mediocre teams do. but last year we won 9 games.. were fighting for a birth... now.. if we dont *convincingly* make it to the tourney next year, then i have reason for concern. they should be lot better with a froshy true PG and sims/manny tasting winning for the first time.
itll take some luck to be in the tourney now.. and a few more wins at least.
Carrying the ball on Manny? Ridiculous call! That call could be made 50% at any given time. The (no) foul on Sims to completely give Iowa a gift of overtime...ROBBERY!

The carry. The two no-call fouls to Manny as he drove the lane just before the bullshit foul on Sims. The bullshit travel on the Iowa guy earlier. The phantom foul to Cole on Sims where the replay showed absolutely no contact.
I didn't realize how pathetic officiating had become. It almost seemed like the f-ing refs had money on the game that the teams couldn't be more than a certain amount of points apart at the end. Just when one team seemed like it might make a run some bullshit ticky tack call would give the other team a boost.
Oh, and where the F have you been, Todd?

What's up blue? Good to know I've been missed! This freakin' economy has caused me to have to actually work! Ugh! Been popping in from time to time though, just to see what's up with the hailvictor.com crew. How's it been goin'?

Nice to have a job these days. Hell, the way One Big Ass Mistake, America's doing things though, you just might make more money sitting on your ass leaching off productive, worthwhile Americans. Seems to be working for DOUCHENUT and Don.

It's not impossible. If Michigan can at least win 2 of the last 3, they still have an opportunity to be in. Granted they have to play Purdue, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.
Also, don't count them out at the Big Ten Tourney. When this team is playing good, they can beat anyone in the Big Ten.
I am concerned about the Manny benching for a few reasons. One is he should of played at least a little bit in the OT, who knows how he would have impacted the OT. But my biggest concern is if there is friction between him and Beilein. If there is, I can see him leaving. If he stays, this team is a contender for the Big Ten, but if he leaves, I don't see them making the tourney next season.

If they played Xaviers schedule they would be not only in but ranked right now. It boggles my mind to understand how xavier gets ranked so high without a quality win all year and blow out loses against the good teams they play. I just don't get it.
