Don,
Maybe we will get past the first round - maybe we won't. Honestly, no one gave Michigan a chance of anything in '89 after the last regular season game either.
If the team comes out and plays like they did against Iowa in the Big 10 tourney, they can definitely advance - one round, maybe two. If, on the other hand, they come out and start off like they did the second half against Illinois - then it will be one and done.
We'll know on Thursday night - around 10 pm - which one it is. Go Blue...
By the way Don, how far do you think your beloved Buckeyes are going to advance?

Don,
I do remember the last time Michigan made the dance, and I do remember watching them win the NC in '89. I highly doubt we'll be waiting until 2022 until they are in the dance again. Perhaps it will be a while before they win another NC in basketball - time will tell - there's increased parity in all college sports.
Enjoy the game against Siena. I hope that your parents aren't busy that night and they can drive you up to Dayton so you can watch the game.

Your response is nonsensical. UM "can't even make it"? UM has made it.
I remember where I was in 1989 - where were you in 1960 (I wasn't born and my parents were teens)? UM's last NC was filmed in color, and none of its players are collecting social security or getting hip-replacement surgery.

And since 1960 Ohio State has appeared in (6) Final Fours winning (1) NC, UM (3) Final Fours winning (1) NC (not including of course the Fab Five humiliation since the records have been removed).
Again, you sound like the forgotten little brother trying to get attention by making irritating noises. The fact is, you first have to get into the NCAA tournament to win it. Getting there only once every 12 years doesn't help your chances. The selection committee I'm sure took this into consideration when they chose UM over a more deserving PSU. You won't be getting the sympathy vote again so don't plan on another invite anytime soon.
Our NC chances would be increased dramatically if we could keep some of our McDonald AA kids for more than one year. I think Matta should recruit more 4 star kids instead of all 5 star so we could have more continuity in the Soph and Junior classes.

Don,
No one has a crystal ball that can predict what next season will hold. And, the only teams that I believe are a lock "year in and year out" for the NCAA are North Carolina and Duke.
So, though I'm not 100% certain that Michigan will receive an invitation to the Dance next year, I am awfully certain that we'll compete well and that the drought of the last ten or so years won't repeat anytime soon.

The great schools learn to get the very talented kid who still needs to develop for a few years while schools trying to make it to the next level go after the extremely talented kid that everyone knows is only staying a year or 2 tops. I like the way UM is doing it. I think they have learned their lesson on the extremely talented kids and won't get burnt on that again.

5. Ohio state was a 8 seed while Michigan was a 10 seed?

Lets see
UOS has multiple NBA caliber players from Lauderdale to Turner and yet with that talent they lay an egg in the first round.
Michigan has 2 starting walk-on senior point guards, 2 freshmen guards, 3 if you count LLP, A junior big man in Sims who is actually only 6'5" and a Sophomore sensation in Manny who still has a lot to learn. Still with all that not only do they make the tourney but they beat a team in Clemson that they werent supposed to beat
So what about UOS? Matta is a recruiter not a coach. Even with Oden. Conley and Koufus UOS still couldnt beat Florida for the NC so keep talking but the Basketball team is as much a choke artist as the football team
1OSUNUT
03-22-2009, 10:11 AM
Koufus was not on the team till the following year. Also the Florida team that beat Ohio State in the finals had as much or more NBA talent then Ohio State did. If you remember that was a senior led team that had many kids return to win the championship. Matta has a very young team right now due to the many players that have jumped to the NBA. In fact we have zero recruits for next year because thats how young we are. But in 2010 we already have several Rivals top players with verbals. The future is very bright in Columbus. The Buckeyes will return the whole team next year plus a 7 foot center that had to sit out because of a transfer.

Michigan won an NC in 1989. tUOS won an NC in 1960.
Michigan is in its second year under a new coach with a team full of leftovers, walkons, and players recruited for a different scheme and advanced to the 2nd round of the tourney. tUOS has a top 10 team with several players earning conference awards, finished 5th in the conference, and lost in the 1st round under a coach that has been there for 5 years.

Both teams haven't won a national championship in modern times. Ohio State has had a respectable during this decade. I cannot remember any team playing like Michigan. Also, Belien left WVU for more money, if he makes the NCAA next year, he is gone to an SEC with cash. Michigan is not greater than OSU until they beat OSU head to head. I'm not an OSU fan. I'm stating the facts. Given you Michigan education, you should be able to decipher the facts. But...

If you were presenting facts, there would be no need to decipher, right? Perhaps you meant interpret??
Fact - Michigan basketball had a better season than tUOS by virtue of advancing further in the tourney. That is the measure of success in college football, not head to head. Minnesota beat Louisville, did they have a better season? Clemson beat Duke, did they have a better season? Decipher the significance of that...

Well... now you're making me think....
1. Michigan lost in the 2nd round of the Big Ten Tournament
2. Ohio State played in the Champion.
3. Head to Head: Michigan lost
4. Common opponent: MSU. OSU won 33%. UM won 0%
5. Ohio State lost in the first round of NCAA, UM the second.
So your entire argument removes 1,2,3,4, and is based on 5? Wow... was arrogance a course taught at UM or just acquired as part of the culture. Face it, in modern history, Michigan has been a joke of a basketball team. They won 20 years ago.... Stop clinging to the past. The best part of your posts is the sheer fact you completely avoided the entire, Michigan was a bubble team until last week. Yeah, I'm completely confused at your logic, but you'll respond with something that I will laugh at. Try the approach, Michigan wins in a crumby arena like Crysler and the Value City Arena is so much nicer, so Michigan is better because they can win in low light.

tOSU beat UM twice this year. You suck. This is the first time since the 1990's that you made it to the NCAA tournament. You suck. Decipfer that.

You may be correct, I'll accept losing to a 2 seed, but at least Siena wasn't out of our league. Siena?? Haha...nicely done, bounced out of the 1st round by a team nobody has heard of.
And if Beilein can get this kind of results out of "elbow trowing chicken legged inner city kids" (whatever that means), imagine what he's going to do when he gets his recruits in Ann Arbor.
Gee, Siena is on the map now. Ask Louisville and tOSU.
Just imagine what can happen if UM recruits as well as the rest of the Big Ten right? NOT!!!

I live 15 miles away from 2 elite basketball schools (UNC and Duke) MM is right on when he says all that matters in how far you make it in the tourney.
You think UNC gives a crap they lost in the ACC tournament?
This is the same thinking that OSU has in football. Winning the big ten is no longer that big of a deal when you get crushed in your bowl. And it certainly doesn't give OSU fans the right to troll when in fact you are nothing special.

1. In Michigan's favor
2. Barely in tUOS' favor - tUOS did play in the championship - and lost
3. In tUOS's favor
4. There are many common opponents - tUOS was 10-8, UM 9-9. Not a significant factor, a wash.
5. In Michigan's favor.
6. Who did tUOS play out of conference that mattered?? No one but ringers and NIT fodder.
In reality, if tUOS hadn't padded its record with a crap schedule, it would have been a bubble team as well. The fact that tUOS beat UM is negated by tUOS flopping in the tourney and UM advancing.
By the way, I love the corporate sponsored name of "Value City" for an arena. Is there a bigger pile of shit white-trash / ghetto retail store on the planet??? Great sponsor, appropriate for tUOS fans. Not many have a degree from tUOS, but they all have a sweatshirt and hat from Value City...

Yeah, you suck.

You're right you guys convince me. Michigan is better than Ohio State. In the head to head match, Michigan lost both times that's irrelevant. Michigan beat clemson, that is all that matters. They join the ranks of schools like Dayton and Cleveland State. Way to be! Congrats.
Also, Realschool, change your name to real immature. Last time I checked, Michigan condone homosexuality and actually promoted it's practices on campus by 'valuing' other people's culture. You live in North Carolina, don't make me start.

Its hard to start anything when one lives under a rock of annonymity. CW has yet to admit what school he went to, what school he is a fan of or what state he lives in. Yet he wants to crack on RS about living in Carolina, which happens to be the Mecca of college basketball.....you know, the subject of this thread.
