I think if the election were held again today, John McCain would win. That's sad too, John McCain wasn't that great of a pick. Who is going to run in 2012. It shouldn't be hard to beat Obama. I mean, seriously.... he's going to have to work very hard to over come this moronic mess he made. I myself pick Chuck Norris.

Its too far away and there are no serious Republican players at this point.
Anyone who worked under Bush will be tainted by his adminsitration no matter how bad Obama is. And there are few Congressmen or governors yet who are worth making much noise about yet. Huckabee could have a better chance next time so could be a likely candidate. Jindahl (sp?) was supposed to be but everytime he opens his mouth the national media just rails on him. They're trying to make him out as another bumbling Bushite which he is not.

I'd like to see Romney... I think Romney would make Obama wet his pants in a debate. Seriously... the difference between Obama and Romney is Romney has more experience even after Obama has blundered as a president for 4 years. Can we offer Obama a buyout to just retire?

I'm guessing Bobby Jinhdahl (sp), the Governor of Louisiana. He is sort of the conservative version of Obama, but of course, without the socialism and lack of executive experience.

Hardly brown, guy changed his name to be American-friendly, is a converted Catholic (from Hinduism) and hasn't visited India in like 30 years. He's a coconut, but obviously will play the minority, son of hard-working immigrants card come election time.

Because Barry Obama didn't do the same things? I'm more black than he is. Half his family is white, just like mine! And Real School, my college education will get me jobs for the rest of my life... I know, you're jealous, but being head fry cook is a good job for you.

Right, because opting to be called 'Barack HUSSEIN Obama' instead was suuuuch a strategic political move in these times . He also has an Indonesian step-father's influence, a half-Indonesian step-sister and his mother has native indian ancestry, shall we blame him for being very un-asian and un-indian too?
Jindal on the other hand, has clearly made changes to conform. Hell, his kids have names like Selia Elizabeth and Slade Ryan, and they're not even half-white! Its probably not a big deal to some, but lets not have him fool us when he pretends to care about his ethnicity, he's a white guy who doesn't give 2 hoots where he came from, period.

Wait, the party of racial freedom, the party of acceptance... So now you are a racist if you come to America, speak english, and named your children american names. I would like to introduce you to a world called nationalism. I know it might be hard to be proud of your country, but alot of people like it, just the way it is. My ancestors were dutch, they had the prefix Van, however, my grandfather dropped it after fighting in WWI. Obama's name change was a political move. He claims to be a Christian, but when is the last time you met Paul Allah Smith or Tom Mahomid (sp?) Jenadowski? Interesting, stop drinking the koolaid, block daily kos. If you want to go to a place that retains their heritage, go to africa where you will be required to learn 1 trade language, and many tribal languages.... Yeah, shut up. You're appearing to be a racist, not an american.

Who's going to beat Barack Obama in 2012?
* Nanci Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Barack Obama.
They are under pressure to enact everything liberals have pined for since 1976 since they have such an overwhelming grip on power. They either have to deliver and overreach past what most Americans would want, or they don't do enough & disappoint their base.
The name on the ticket for the Republicans is largely irrelevant. For sh!ts and giggles I'll say Sen. John Thune. Voters want a fresh name/face from the Republican side.
* if he even loses at all. i think we're going to be stuck with this mistake for 8 years.

It's ok, you went to UM. There was a time when Germany was for the Germans, England for the English, and America for the Americans. I'm sure you were indoctrinated with the hyphen-american stereotype. It's ok, I blame your education. Assimilation is a new word for you?

Real School, remember that thread where I called you out for an adult discussion? Oh yes, you can't have one. Face it. Obama sucks. He's making Carter look good. At this point, most people think he's incompetent or has an extreme agenda. He runs over the constitution like it's a doormat to the oval office. He reads a teleprompter for every speech, is this so his true thoughts don't get out? The guy off teleprompter is a blundering idiot. Our VP is an arrogant moron. What could inspire you to be proud or supportive of this guy? He's got government into everything, yet all you claim is the party not in power is racist? Seriously, the republians have no power and you're defending Obama like he's your wife. Grow a brain, you're obviously not a UM graduate since you cannot think on your own feet. Obama is bad for the USA. We should offer him a buyout.

Sorry you hate black people.
RealSchool,
My oh my, what a mature attitude you have. I do not "hate" black people - and, I refer to that race as African Americans. I was born in Detroit and lived in the area until I was in college. I believe that your original statement placed all the blame for Michigan's current economic woes on a former Republican governor. My impression is that your view is tremendously short-sighted and immature.
I'm wondering what actions you felt a previous governor took has resulted in the current economic state of Michigan? Was it reducing property taxes (or providing property tax credits) for senior citizens who own their homes?
Michigan's economic problems are complex - and the fact that the overall state economy is so dependent on the automobile industry places the state in a very delicate position when a global downturn occurs and the worldwide auto industry is impacted to the degree that it has been recently.
I do feel that Obama's rhetoric that "new energy" jobs can be created in Michigan to replace the (assembly related) automotive industry jobs that have been eliminated is ill founded. Manufacturers may create more fuel efficient / alternative energy products - but, I'm wondering what specific benefit the skill set available in Michigan would provide to employ those people who have lost their jobs. A firm that creates a new technology / solution will most likely move the manufacturing / assembly to a location that maximizes profitability - and, that location would be a country other than the US. Of course, this manufacturing could occur in the US if the tax credits, which Obama seems to be eager to provide (or perhaps the phrase would be subsidized by the US government) - would be so tremendous or a requirement to received any federal funding for R&D or developing this technology.
Please share your insight to this problem and how to resolve it. I'm sure you're far more enlightened about providing a solution to it than I am.

Like I care about Michigan anymore. I am one of the smart people that saw the writing on the wall years ago.
But if I did care, Michigan has a hope at least in Ann Arbor to make it one of the tech hubs of this country. Google opening an office is a start.
As far as the unskilled uneducated masses in Michigan that no longer make 85k at Ford, oh well no one too blame but themselves. Get off your butt and learn a skill and stop complaining.

I didn't vote for Obama but as far as I'm concerned he can stay in office for the rest of my life. I have never made so much money in the stock market as I have in the last three months. His policies have created such havoc that wild swings in stocks are an everyday event. If you can just figure out the daily swing up or down, you can make a fortune. (Granted, the country will never be stable, but when you're served lemons, make lemonade.)
