but go MSU!!!
And so says every kid from Flint and Saginaw. Every time sparty goes this far kids (potential recruits) see MSU and not UM on tv, pushing us that much further back. Although we are on the right track by getting back to the tourney, we will never get back to our once championship caliber level until we get back into the Flint and Saginaw high schools that we once owned and sparty took over when the sh!t hit the fan. Oh yeah, see that junior that went for 49 in the state championship, he's from Flint Powers and is going to MSU. Wonder why?

wrong, the guy who went for 49 is from detroit perishing, but laval lucas-perry's brother put up 25 in the state B title game for flint powers which they won
and i agree, i am rooting hard for msu. i am so sick of hearing about how good the big east is. truth is they don't play defense in the big east. louisville averages 85 points in first 3 games then state only gives up 52! i expect state to beat uconn but i just think north carolina has too much this year
Ok then, add Detroit to that list also.

its about time someone ask the question here. Who are you guys rooting for? I dont want to root against the B10 but I cant imagine rooting for FYS. I dont hate sparty as much as bucky but I still hate those fuckers. Especially when year after year M beats them on the football field and all they say is "what about basketball".
This past football season was the worst I can ever remember for the M vs. FYS game. I was surrounded by the most annoying fucking fans EVER! I came close more than once to throwing a punch. After the game as I walked out of the stadium I couldnt help but here a sparty going on to his M buddy how terrible Rich Rodriguez is and how he is going to destroy the Michigan program. So im mad at the fans and the game so I couldnt hold it in anymore. I turned around and blew up at the dude to the point that his M buddy told me I had said enough. All I said was that he was fucking wrong and until he gets his facts straight he needs to shut his fucking gap. Didnt seem to harsh
Fuck you state! I cant wait to see you lose!

As much as I would love to see an upset tonight on the behalf of the Big Ten - THE MAGIC CARPET RIDE IS OVER. North Carolina will be way to much for MSU. They will play hard and keep it close for a half - then the talent will take over.

I'm totally comfortable pulling for MSU. I'm a Big 10 fan, and they've really made the conference look good, unlike some of these poser teams that got bounced in the 1st round. MSU fans are tolerable, unlike other less civilized fan bases - they may burn a few cars tonight in E. Lansing, but you won't catch too many of them trolling and acting like idiots online.
Finally, MSU draws upon a lot of talent from the state of Michigan. Tom Izzo is a native, and most of the players are from Flint, Detroit, Saginaw, etc., so it is a great story for the state. The game is in Detroit - I'm pulling for the home team to win.

What a boring ass final. Like watching UOS vs. USC last year. I had faith that FYS could stick with them for most the game but man this is sad. Wheres sparty now? I want to hear his excuse for this loss

My prayers were answered. I especially enjoyed seeing Dan Tonio's scowling mug.

I'd say this is a better story for the state of Ohio.
MSU starters:
Travis Walton G Lima, Ohio
Raymar Morgan F Canton, Ohio
Delvon Roe F Lakewood, Ohio
And humor me again and tell me who won the two games this year between The Ohio State University and Michigan? You know, the same team that beat MSU in the tournament, another team Michigan lost to.

You don't live near Lansing, do you? State fans are about on par with OSU fans, minus the mediocre accomplishments yet including the felonies.

How do you figure its a better story for Ohio just because there are 3 players from Ohio on the team? Since you looked up the roster you must have noticed that there are 9 players from Michigan on the team, right?
Your TUOS team only has about 1/2 of its players from Ohio. Shows how much home talent there is here. You guys can claim whatever you want but the state of Michigan is a hotbed for basketball.

Didn't you know that only the best players are from Ohio? It speaks volumes that with a majority from Michigan the ohio athletes start. If Michigan is a hotbed for basketball talent UM certainly doesn't tap into it.

Ohio State does do better, to name just a few:
BJ Mullens Canal Winchester, OH, 5 star
William Buford Toledo, OH, 5 star
Kosta Koufos Canton, OH, 5 star
Jared Sullinger Columbus, OH, 5 star

Again your wrong. Losing to App.State and Toledo is a big reason why we are getting laughed at. Losing in the title game is not like losing to a high school team or a MAC celler dweller.

Born and raised in SE Michigan. I have never found MSU fans to be anywhere near as revolting at the tUOS ones...

I totally agree. UOS fans are the biggest dicks. I dont have much of any experience with state fans although last year at the M vs FYS game the fans where fucking terrible! It was really pissing me off

Well I wasn't born here but I live in SE Michigan too and there isn't a lot of animosity between MSU and UM fans here. Sure there are some areas that lean more toward one school, but the only time there's really friction is when the two schools play each other.
Maybe it's because we all live in the same state and have to see each other all the time! Haha, who knows. The good thing though is that it doesn't matter what school you support, you don't have to worry about some idiots hassling you for just wearing a shirt. (Most of the time, around sober people that is!)

65 teams play in the NCAA hoops tourney. Of those, only one team wins their last game. Sparty made a hell of a run - my hat's off to their team and Izzo - they set a high bar in the Big 10 - and, I'm confident that in two years, Michigan will be challenging for the regular season Big 10 title.
As for animosity - I'm sure there are fans of rivals who "hate" each other. I'm not one of them. Acutally, I root for the Big 10 whenever we're playing OOC games. And, I actually root for MSU whenever they play tUOS in football.
I saw a number of people sporting Green and White over the weekend and on Monday (as I was wearing some of my Michigan colors) - and I wished each of them good luck in their games.

I think that the fans get a long not only because both schools are in the same state, but also because many students considered both UM and MSU while in HS. I applied to both, and if I didn't get into UM, would have probably gone to MSU. Other factors may make a kid accepted to both attend MSU, so you can't hold a great deal of animosity toward an institution that you'd consider attending.

You make some good points. I never thought about the fact that many people do in fact consider both schools (I was also one). Needless to say, it is still a fun rivalry though! One of the things I do like about the majority of fans (for both schools) is that it is possible to actually have a conversation with them. Sure there's going to be some banter and trash talking, but its the fun kind, not the trailer trashy kind.
