UM has never been able to defend the spread and now we can't even defend ourselves. So, is the glass half empty or half full?

I have to admit that I'm pretty worried about the defense this year. But I still think this team will be leaps and bounds ahead of last year(especially on offense), and the defense couldn't get much worse than last year either. I would say the glass is half full though because we finally have a guy who can run this offense at the QB position, and Denard Robinson should bump Cone and Sheridan another notch down the depth chart. On the positive side of our defense, we weren't using any of Robinson's special packages, just the base 4-3 that has never been able to stop a spread, and thats the kind of defense we will face every week in the big ten. I think once Robinson starts throwing in his 3-4 packages that are blitz heavy, we will have some teams on their heals. So, overall, I would say half full, every offensive position should be vastly improved from last year, the defense is young and will eventually learn Robinson's style of play. We may not win 10 games this year, but this team will be night and day compared to last years. They looked way better in this year's game that last years, and I know from experience that once the spread clicks, the offensive production usually seems to explode.....I see good things to come.

Will Campbell definitely has some work to do. I expect him to be a starter in 09 but man is he slow right now and he still attacks the line far to upright. He could have had a sack of Forcier if he was just a bit faster. I wish Roh had enrolled early. Otherwise the defense played as good as I expected them to. With a new coordinator and a lot of new players on D its no surprise. There is still 4 months before the start of the season that is plenty of time to work out some of the kinks and besides the point was already made, how much worse could they be

Also, we saw a pretty vanilla defense and offense out there. Running all of 10 different plays, and the defense was pretty much the same the entire game. As far as scheme goes, that is not what the defense is going to look like. Also, add three starters to the mix that weren't practicing yesterday.

Exactly what I thought. The other thing that people need to understand is this is April, not September. Yes, we have a ways to go, but we are ahead of last year.

Looked as if he was moving in slow motion.

Relax, RR already said last week that the defense would be showing very little yesterday.

That's the problem with spring games, when one side looks good it is at the expense of the other side, so it is best just to enjoy seeing a little football in April and not get too excited or too concerned.

One thing to defend Will. He has been working is ass off - literally. He's lost 30 lbs since he got to AA.

He will be good. It's just a matter of time. These 7 early enrollies are taking in a ton of stuff and still thinking to much. Give these kids time, we will see the difference come Fall.

The next time someone tells you Michigan has bad fans remember this, we had over 40,000 fans yesterday, UNC down here had 2,000 for their spring game.

Yeah they are basketball crazy, but only 2,000 for a spring game is sad.

Especially after the good year they had in football. You'd think everyone would by psyched for the game. 2,000 is sad indeed.

All i know is im pumped for next year, say what you want about the D yesterday but Tate looked like an upperclassmen with his poise and accuracy. The oline looked great as did the running backs. Im loving the OSU hating cause they are so scared, its so obvious they know whats coming. We WILL be a powerhouse in 2010 and beyond, bye bye tressel Michigan is here to take over again...drunken rant over have a great night!

No doubt, Rivals reported 50k +...and it's a spring game.

RR had said before the spring game that both the offense and defense would look very basic. He is not giving anything away........
