You think we have it bad with losing a couple commitments from guys, Auburn has lost 7 commitments after Tommy announced he was leaving. Of those seven, UM was only in on one guy. David Conner, a safety, from Mississippi. Good hitter, pretty decent speed. We'll see if he has any interest in UM still. Hopefully, Coach Hopson can pull this kid to AA.

That is a rough one, it's pretty late to start recruiting now too.

7 commitments is almost half a class, that's a pretty hard hit to the Auburn fan base when they have a poor season to go along with it. I'm feeling a little better about our situation after reading that personally.

Hammer,
It's December 5th and you're saying this - it's pretty late - and I completely agree - which is one of the reasons why the next two recruiting classes are very important for Michigan. RR didn't have much time to pursue his type of player in the last class.
So, I'm looking forward to it. If we can pick up another talented player or two, fantastic.
I think one of the differences is player development. We had a solid class last year, through Carr's efforts - and I think Barwis & staff will get these young men in tremendous condition. We're building a foundation - this is RR's first "real" class - and I'm expecting more depth and deeper quality every season from here on out.

I was speaking about Auburn, basically having to start all over. I think that we have the majority of a solid class. If we can get 5 more solid key guys we will have a great class.

Hammer,
I know you were referring to Auburn in your post, and I didn't mean to hijack it. For those who have been bashing RR, I think it's important to realize that he hasn't even had a full recruiting season yet - that's all.
Auburn is in a tough spot. They've got to name a new HC - the SEC is very competitive in recruiting - and it's late in the recruiting season. The only "good" thing is that few potential recruits will debate between Alabama and Auburn - their rivalry and the support of a potential recruit for one school, often dismisses their interest in the other - similar to Michigan and OSU.
For Michigan, we definitely have a good class coming in - and I'm sure that RR wants to maximize the use of every scholly we have. This class will build on the foundation of the 2008 class, and I'm confident we'll continue to recruit and develop exceptionally well.

it's much easier to take a shitty season when not only Auburn, but Tennessee and Notre Dame are shitty as well.

Not only is Auburn coachless - they lost 7 recruits. You fans out there who follow recruiting know that almost all the studs hace already made their choices - or have narrowed it down pretty good. Auburn is way way behind the eight ball. Not only do they play in what many think is the toughest conference they have a fan base that expects results. The timing could not of been worse and this could set Auburn back years. It is going to be very hard to play in the SEC and against your rival Alabama with players you pick up late just to fill spots.

I agree, and with how the bottom dwellers of the SEC are improving Auburn could quickly become the worst team in the SEC. Their dominance of in-state rival Alabama may be over once and for all.

I agree, they are way behind at this point. They need to name a coach as soon as possible. Some of those recruits that decommitted may very well end up back at Auburn if they like the new coach. So, it may not be as bad as it seems right now, which is really bad.

I could see this setting Auburn back a few years, especially since the coaching pool is pretty shallow this year. By the time they hire a new coach their class will be in shreds.
