I'm sure some of you have seen this, but I thought I'd share it anyway. It's pretty sobering.

I can only imagine what it would look like with that last 2 months of data included as well.....yeesh.

Medic,
No worries, mate! With the Dems now pushing legislation that would require employers to provide health care or straight up pay 2% (at least that's the percentage I heard) of their payroll if they do not, there is no doubt we'll turn the corner on this job loss thing.

Future Prediction:
Unemployment continues to increase. More and more people fall behind on their bills. Mortgages continue into further default. People use the last of their credit cards to pay their bills and buy food. Soon massive defaults occur on credit cards. One by one banks aren’t paid and collapse. Credit tightens further. All businesses have their credit cut off since their business models will be unsustainable and they lay off the final layer of employees. Suppliers to businesses fail. Unemployment rails out of control. The housing market collapses further as your neighborhood loses over 50% or more of home values. More homes become vacant or inhabited by squatters or lawless gangs. Civilization starts to crumble. Taxes can’t be paid. Police aren’t paid so they stay home to care for their families i.e. Hurricane Katrina. Chaos rules. Wars start around the globe. The end of mankind is at hand.

Or do I exaggerate?

pretty cool map. Look at all the big bright red blotches up in Alaska where that dunce Sarah Palin is in charge.

oh yeah, there's barely a blip.

I love the timeline too. From January 2007 to present. Hmm, what happened in January 2007? Here's a hint: "Congratulations Madame Speaker" or this one too "I yield the floor to the Majority Leader, my good friend from Nevada"

Sounds to me that you have given up on America. Things will work out and I hope we will all be more wise in the future.

(No, I haven't given up on America but at least I can sympathize with Americans who have lost everything. Too bad a little document called the Constitution of the United States of America is being put aside. It can't help them now.)

news article:

My name is George C. Joseph. I am the sole owner of Sunshine Dodge-Isuzu, a family owned and operated business in Melbourne, Florida. My family bought and paid for this automobile franchise 35 years ago in 1974. I am the second generation to manage this business.

We currently employ 50+ people and before the economic slowdown we employed over 70 local people. We are active in the community and the local chamber of commerce. We deal with several dozen local vendors on a day to day basis and many more during a month. All depend on our business for part of their livelihood. We are financially strong with great respect in the market place and community. We have strong local presence and stability.

I work every day the store is open, nine to ten hours a day. I know most of our customers and all our employees. Sunshine Dodge is my life.

On Thursday, May 14, 2009 I was notified that my Dodge franchise, that we purchased, will be taken away from my family on June 9, 2009 without compensation and given to another dealer at no cost to them. My new vehicle inventory consists of 125 vehicles with a financed balance of 3 million dollars. This inventory becomes impossible to sell with no factory incentives beyond June 9, 2009. Without the Dodge franchise we can no longer sell a new Dodge as "new," nor will we be able to do any warranty service work. Additionally, my Dodge parts inventory, (approximately $300,000.) is virtually worthless without the ability to perform warranty service. There is no offer from Chrysler to buy back the vehicles or parts inventory.

Our facility was recently totally renovated at Chrysler's insistence, incurring a multi-million dollar debt in the form of a mortgage at Sun Trust Bank.

HOW IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA CAN THIS HAPPEN?

THIS IS A PRIVATE BUSINESS NOT A GOVERNMENT ENTITY

This is beyond imagination! My business is being stolen from me through NO FAULT OF OUR OWN. We did NOTHING wrong.

This atrocity will most likely force my family into bankruptcy. This will also cause our 50+ employees to be unemployed. How will they provide for their families? This is a total economic disaster.

HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN IN A FREE MARKET ECONOMY IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA?

I beseech your help, and look forward to your reply. Thank you.

Sincerely,

George C. Joseph

Not to mention the new gas mileage rules that were enacted by Obama and his green friends.

1. Gas mileage must average 35.5 MPG by 2016, seeing as its only 6 years away for the automakers guess what all their engineers will be working on. Plus I don't see how it solves fuel consumption as it practically will beg people to burn more as they get much better MPG. I predict that as the average MPG increases that the average mileage people drive per year will increase.

2. The easiest route to better gas mileage (and consequently quicker E.T.'s) is of course to drop weight. This is counter productive as it will create a reliance on smaller cars. If you like the size of your family sedan don't get used to it because by 2016 it'll be shrinking.

3. Of course the enviromentalists say just use light state of the art metals and technologies. Thats all fine and dandy but these things cost money and R&D. Don't you think the manufacturers would rather use an aluminum block for motors? But its cheaper to use iron blocks. Same with things such as the drivetrain, lighter materials are available but costly. In racing for instance a good upgrade is to drop the stock driveshaft for an aluminum one. But again all this is going to cost money which will be passed onto the consumer. In the present economy is this the time to create rules causing more expensive vehicles for the consumers and for the troubled industry to invest money into? This in itself is the mark of insanity that has gripped this administration every step of the way. The top priority for Americans is the economy and yet these guys keep coming up with stuff that goes against making it better, makes it worse or will just prolong things.

I agree. It certainly is hard to fund R&D while you're in Chapter 11. As far as insanity...welcome to the Obama administration. Logic has nothing to do with it; it's all about passing policy: close Gitmo although you don't know what to do with the detainees, support the union worker though they are driving businesses to bankruptcy, fund ACORN though they're facing voter fraud in God knows how many states now, get GW for torture until you find your own speaker of the house was compliant, support cap and trade though it will sock American families to the average tune of $1600/household/year in what Obama himself calls the worst economy since the Great Depression. They've got to satisfy the demands of the far left and the green tree huggers. This economic crisis was just an opportunity for these guys expand governement spending to epic proportions in the name of stimulus, though most of it won't be spent for 3 or 4 years. To hell with the consequences, to hell with actually reading the bill, and to hell with getting a plan that might actually work. Just ram this legislation through and secure the role and legacy of big government.

Nice summary of this goat f*ck we are experiencing with this administration. And we're barely over 100 days in, my God what a debacle...

I don't think it's much of an exaggeration, if at all. Things are quickly heading towards a one world order/gov.

He just updated it with March's numbers. Holy crap look at that bomb that went off in Los Angeles. 5 million jobs lost in total now. That's a lot of unemployment checks.

Consumer confidence is up. That should help get people off the sidelines and investing again just in time for the epic collapse in November when inflation finally hits.
