Columbus host the PGA this weekend.
Two questions are on my mind:
How many days will be interrupted by rain?
Does the Buick Open still exist?

Furley,
I think you'll see the various forms of the "Buick Opens" change a lot, and I'd assume Buick (despite being one of the few surviving GM brands) sponsorship will potentially come to a complete stop.
I hope that the Memorial stays dry this weekend. Weather's always been a challenge, which is why they moved it to June several years ago. I'm going to predict one day of rain...

great final round. when this tournament is able to get four decent days of weather, it becomes the 5th Major.

Furley,
Jack and Arnie both put on a tremendous tournament - and, there is no doubt that The Memorial is a great event. But, I do believe that TPC becomes the fifth major. The Memorial is one of the great regular events on tour during the season - just like Harbor Town (which is a fantastic party the week after the Masters).

Furley ,not unless jack moves the tourny to august ,because the thinking on this is have the us open at murefield , this will never be a major , golf is about tradition and 5 majors isnt part of it. Sure its called the memorial tourny for a reason ,but the best hope is for the course to get the open or pga..

I didn't mean to suggest it would be a real 5th major. I agree, there will always only be 4 majors. I just meant the quality of golf, the strategy and skill required to win, and the pressure the golfers feel in winning this tournament - when this tournament has four days to shine - you see majors-caliber golf.

Furley,
Without doubt - the condition of the course and the way that the players are treated when they visit Muirfield Village is incomparable. It's a tournament everyone wants to win - because it's Jack's tournament, and the venue really is spectacular.
I believe it (Muirfield Village) may have hosted a Ryder Cup - and deservedly so. Every player WANTS to play there - and wants to WIN there. Just to shake Jack's hand and pick up some hardware.
However, I don't think the pressure is as great as it is at a major. A major can define someone's career - and as prestigious as Jack and Arnie's tournaments are - these two events don't define a golfer's career.
