Anyone notice during the SEC Championship the verve with which Tebow's name was orgasm'd? They'd literally just shout his name and then sit and silence. My favorite was how the one guy was constantly saying Tebow was the best short yardage back in the entirety of college football. Anyone else think this kid has more people on his jock than Tom Brady did this time last year?

BlueSpread,

No doubt - Tebow's good. And, he showed yesterday how important a leader is on a football field. What I don't care for is the media - and seemingly endless media love. CBS has one game in town in college football, it's the SEC. They go down on him faster than a $10 whore.

What I think an interesting question is deals with Tebow's future. Where will he be in two years? I think he has a career in the NFL, but it probably will be as a fullback - or maybe a second string QB. I may be delusional, but I must wonder if he'll have the same degree of success as Rex Grossman.

Lets face it, thats just how the media is. They get their little media darling(s) and sing their praises non-stop. Typically in a game the announcers will ring the praises of whichever star player is doing well. Its not going to change.

Well played. I have that with Daunte Culpepper.

I don't think Tebow!!! will be that great an NFL prospect. Even as a fullback. Trust me, as a Brady fan I'm all for recognizing a player's greatness. It just seems that Tebow!!! is getting more praise lavished on him than any player I've ever seen.

From the outset of this reply. I've heard all the knocks, and I'm well aware that most NFL scouts don't know what to make of Tebow at the next level. In nearly every case, it isn't promising. What I can't figure, is why the opposing conversation always has to regress to 1) I can't stand (or hate) Tebow (Teabag is usually what I hear) and 2) he'll suck at in the NFL.

Most gator fans I know don't give a damn what he does in the NFL. We would keep him here for 7 years if they let us. He is a young man with FANTASTIC character, strong faith, and tremendous leadership skills. I can't think of a single program (other than Miami Thugs and FSU Criminoles) that doesn't covet those qualities in their recruits, especially at QB. The young man just gets it done...end of strory. When it's all said and done, he may go down as one of the greatest players in COLLEGE football lore. That's all that anyone is really saying. Honestly, I don't think any less of Tommy Frazier, Charlie Ward, or Vince Young (if his troubles persist) just b/c they didn't make it big in the NFL. They were freaking great at the college level, and they brought their fans championships. If Brady had won his championships at the college level, but never got a snap in the NFL, are you telling me you wouldn't defend him as one of the best QB's ever, at least on the college level? If Tebow was on any other team in the country, I guarantee you they would love the shiat out of that guy.

Gator,

There's no doubt about Tebow being a difference maker at the college level - heck, just look at what he's done on the big stage - throughout his three years (thus far). As a freshman, when he was in the game, you knew he was going to run - and what happened - opponents couldn't stop him. If there are any Buckeye trolls out here - perhaps they can recall the NC game Tebow played against them.

So, I agree Tebow will go down as one of the most storied and talked about QB's in college history. And, any team in college ball would be better with him on it. To Tebow's credit, I like what he does on the field - and his attitude about winning and leading the team. Florida's got some very good athletes on it - but, IMO, the leader of that team is Tebow. And, I like leaders....

Maybe it's hard for UM fans to respect Tebow since UM beat his aaasssss! Sorry, I just wanted to see what it's like to be a uos douche bag.
I'm in total agreement with you on the whole "who cares about the NFL as long as he's awesome in college" thing. It's nice to see players go on and do well at the next level but as a fan I don't devalue their time at UM if they don't pan out.

I don't dislike Tebow!!! per se; I dislike the media being on his jock so hard. I feel Tebow!!! and maybe the best player this year. That being said, I honestly feel Charles Woodson was/is the better college football player, perhaps even of all time. I feel Tebow!!! is likely the most valuable player in college football this year. My original point is the greater attention Tebow!!! receives from the media versus the attention Brady received last year. My position is that for whatever reason, Tebow!!! is getting far more praise for a less dominant performance than another athlete, in any sport for that matter. I've made no slander against Tim personally, I use the term Tebow!!! to mock the media, not the athlete. I'm all for mocking talking heads, even coaches and programs in general, but never the athlete themselves. It takes a lot of hard work, dedication, and natural ability to do what they do.

I can buy that. I like the way you write Tebow!!! every time you use it, I might have to start doing that myself.:)

I too am not immune to ire for the talking heads, and I really can't blame you if you dislike Tebow!!! because of them. It does get tiring hearing about certain players sometimes. For me it was certainly Chase Daniel this and last year. I just didn't see what was so GREAT about him. They didn't play anyone but OKL last year, who beat them twice. Coming into this year, he was still getting all the praise until some of the better Big12 teams got a shot at him. I don't have near as many problems when they talk about McCoy, Bradford, or Tebow!!! because I think they actually have the wins to back it up.
