Yes, and the Chief Priest is Al Gore.

The hypocrisy is astounding, but I wouldn't even mind if it didn't affect me. Al Gore has been one of the loudest advocates of offsetting your carbon impact by buying these "carbon credits." First, who does that when it's not government enforced? Penalize yourself for your own lifestyle? Surely, his supporters will claim he is a true believer in global warming and buying such credits is an expression of his commitment. I think that's exactly the reaction he was hoping to receive. Of course, many fail to recognize that he buys his credits from himself, i.e., a company that he has a huge interest in that reinvest that money in alternative energy source. In turn the company profits, and returns a profit back to Gore. If he was so commited to the cause, why not by credits from a non-affiliated program. While he lectures us on being conservative with our energy, Mr. Gore has a very posh mansion in Tennessee which uses 20 times the national average household. But that's okay because he "offsets" it by buying carbon credits, which are actually an investment for him. Of course, his true carbon impact doesn't stop there becasue he also owns two other homes and takes a private jet all over the place. Certainly nobody can question his motives behind the promotion of this insanity when he delievers his "green" lectures for a mere $175,000 a pop. Mr. Gore, nobody wants to intentionally hurt the envirionment, but your hypocrisy of action, financial profitability, inaccurate claims in your presentations, and refusal to debate anyone with knowledge on the topic certainly don't lend credence to your message. I mean, you went from a networth of approximately $2 million right out of the White House to over $100 million in a few short years. No....you don't have any finiancial motivation in peddling this shit.

Now, how it affects us. Many of you may be unaware of the massive tax bill that passed in the House today in the wake of the brilliant diversionary talks on health care this week. Obama comes out and gives an unprecedented "infomercial" for healthcare and gets all the focus on that topic, while behind the scences and under the radar, one of the most brutal assaults on our economy was being passed without a peep. Please read the following article http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124588837560750781.html, or at least the end, to get a full appreciation of what this cap and trade legislation means for American families. Surely all the campaigning efforts of Gore have played no small part in duping the public into thinking this is a good idea. Also, notice how gradual the real impacts come into place. This slippery slope provides the dems with two key elements in sticking it to us without so much as a discussion. 1) The Congression Budget Office makes its cost predictions off the first few years of the program, so it doesn't look too steep, but as you get into the article you see how things really turn out. Looks like it will hit American families to the tune of $6,800/year ($570/month) by 2035. What happened to that promise Mr. Obama: "Your taxes will not go up one dime if you make under $250,000/year." Bullsh##!! Taxing healtcare benefits is nothing compared to this. 2) Due to the low initial impact, many of the unwitting public will think, hey this is supposed to help the envirionment (of which the proof is minimal) and I don't see the drastic hit on my wallet that all those ridiculous conservatives were talking about. But the real asskicker will come on us as slow as the world turns. I particularly like how the Dems refused Republican proposals to halt this plan if 1) gas hits $5/gallon, 2) electricity prices rise by 10% by 2009, or 3) unemployment hits 15%. Simply put, this is likely going to be the largest tax bill in American history. Brilliantly though, they will let the real problems of the bill settle in on somebody else's watch, after the legislation is a distant memory and Mr. Obama is out of the White House. If this legislation is so damn important, let's go ahead and put it out on the table. I mean by 2035, FL might be underwater, according to our tinfoil-hat-wearing friends. Have you ever read predictions from these loons from 20 years ago....hell, the Earth shouldn't even exist anymore.

The real message behind going greeen is that it's all about the $$$green$$$$. From people like Al Gore, who have been projected to make as much as a billion dollars from the green movement, to the government passing enormous taxing legislation, money is being made hand over fist. This bill will have terrible implications for our economy in the future, and it's barely getting a mention. Check this list to see if your congress man passed the bill, that way you can vote their ass out next time around. http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/20090626/cap-and-trade-vote-results-final.htm Further, I encourage you to get in touch with your state senators before this motion is voted on in Senate. Maybe there is still hope that we can stop it.
