I'd love to use a string of four-letter words to describe my disgust at our politicians..................I blame both the Democrats and the Republicans. Our state and national leaders are so out of touch with the common man, it defies belief. I'm to the point of picking some Joe off the street and putting him in power. At this point, hell, I'd even let 1OSUNUT have a shot at governing. It seems they are deliberately leading us on a path to third world status. And we aren't getting out of this mess anytime soon. I'm doing fine but I sincerely feel for all those people who are truly struggling. May God bless and help them.

Until people stop voting along party lines and voting for responsible representation, the problems will only get worse.

I came across an article where there were links to two different organizations' list of states most/least favorable to do business.

The first is from the Tax Foundation: http://www.taxfoundation.org/files/bp58.pdf

The second is from the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council: http://www.sbecouncil.org/uploads/BusinessTaxIndex2009Final.pdf

In both studies, Michigan ranked 20th as far as most favorable to do business by tax standards.

In light of this, it would seem factors other than tax policy are cause for Michigan's unemployment of 14.1% currently 51st (even worse than District of Columbia) in the nation.

Here's an analysis of some pending new proposals by Michigan lawmakers. Sounds like a good plan to push the unemployment numbers up, up, and away:

its not as complex as washington tries to make it. michigan was a manufacturing state doing well before 1992 and clinton with his nazi dem buddies who signed away our economy to mexico and china. michigan now has to find a new industy to redefine itself and it will take a long time.

Man, most of you here appear to be sane. How in the hell are these people getting elected? I guess it all sounds good, you know, hearing about all the things you are going to get. But when businesses start closing down because they can't afford to do business in a state, it's a different story. My brother-in-law was recently bitching about how much he made at work (which is actually a family business). I told him, "You make what you are worth." Again, I don't pull any punches (even with family). You want to make more, go out and get that education and make yourself valuable. It's always a sink or swim world in my view. I don't want any government help, just stay the Fu$$ out of my way. I'll worry about my family, and you worry about yours. Not everyone wants the same thing, and not everyone puts in the same effort; therefore, contrary to Mr. Obama and fellow liberals, not everybody EARNS the same salary, lifestyle, or healthcare. Please, Mr. Obama, quite trying to make us all equal.....we are not.

How do they get elected? because the entire population of Detroit keeps voting for whoever promises the most government aid.

Detroit is the perfect example of local government gone wrong. Started back with Young and even though I think Bing is an honorable man it is a monumental task getting Detroit back on track.

Beware the politician who says they are going to create jobs. You don't create jobs out of thin air unless you're going to put people on the public dole doing unproductive civil service work.

In order to have new jobs you need to create and nourish businesses. Businesses provide jobs. And the biggest creator of new jobs is small businesses. Why don't the politicians ever say they are going to create small businesses? That is what creates wealth and jobs with the production of goods and services the world needs.

They just don't get it.

We are in deep trouble, folks. This country is definitely in a downward slide. The recession (depression) is here to stay. There won't be another big, easy credit bubble to float our economy and our standard of living. America is now the riches to rags story. Another era for the grapes of wrath. The 1930s all over again. Will it take another world war to pull us out of it?

In the meantime, god help the truly needy. The streets here in California are definitely no longer paved in gold. The homeless here look desperate, and I think are about ready to give up panhandling for robbery. They aren't going to ask for money any more, they will just take it. It's really bad, and getting worse.

And they dally in Washington with health care reform that no one can afford, while the economy sinks. I think you could put a blindfolded chimpanzee in the Oval Office and get better results.

God bless America. God help us all.:(

Well finally something we can agree on. :D

I think most of the country and especially the gov't seem to have the business as usual attitude. Maybe they pay some lip service to the current economic issues but they act and think that the good 'ol times will be back and they have not changed their habits. As long as people are unwilling to change their previous spending and borrowing habits the economy of this country will never truly regain. Heck, look at the cash for clunkers deal for proof, a lot of the people who traded in their cars can't really afford the new ones. Not to mention the strain it put on businesses and the economy.
